Ordering a Marriage Certificate
As it is not possible to access the original marriage certificate yourself, you will have to go through an agency such as Ancestry to help you get a copy for your records. The first step is to search the national indexes, which are divided into a quarterly volume, and the names in each quarter are listed alphabetically. Once you find an entry, you can use that information to order the copy. You will need the year, the type of record such as Marriage, the quarter, the district, which volume, and the page number it was found on. When you are searching, keep in mind the quarter they were recorded in is when the information was received, not when it happened.
