Would an EMP negatively affect parts of electronics with no current running through them?

For example, would an EMP negatively affect magnets attached to a fridge or just lying on a table, or wires, or circuit boards, and batteries not i use?

Yes I know about proximity, I’m talking about if these items were in proximity of an EMP.
So even magnets just lying around or stuck to something would be damaged somehow? In what way, would they lose their magnetivity?

Yes. The EMP is no different than the electromagnetic field of say a transformer, just orders of magnitude stronger. So I generates a damaging pulse in every electronic device it hits

Starting with a quick look at new construction near Akihabara Station (where a department store used to be) and then diving into a couple of the narrow passageways (almost like tunnels) with many small shops selling electronics parts. Electronics used to be what Akihabara was all about (and still is to a certain extent), but with the proliferation of discount electronics stores all over Tokyo; fewer people making their own radios and whatnot; and the manga industry moving into Akihabara, business for parts sellers like this has been on the decline.

Why electronics/auto parts price in China is significantly HIGHER than those in United States?

try to buy a digi cam in china, the lowest bidder offer 180 USD, the lowest bidder in United states offer just under 140 USD. is this bullshit? I thought all the cheap labors are in china?

The autos in China are insanely expensive as well, a chevy silverado is sold for 50K USD, is this bullshit?

Actually car prices in China have fallen dramatically over the last few years. The Chinese government has lowered the tax on cars, since then it has been much more affordable for Chinese to buy a good car.
Computers have also become a lot cheaper. I can buy now a good laptop for only 500 Euro. Not bad at all.

What does LED / PT mean when defining electronics parts?

I know that LED means Light Emiting Diode but what is the PT?
these are used for TACH monitoring in a roomba.
Just wondering what PT stand for?
I know that the LED produces a signal on one side of a wheel and the PT senses the signal so as to monitor the speed of the robot. just dpnt know what PT stands for..

Light Emitting Diodes. It is a simple PN junction in a clear casing. It grows when current is passed though

I’m in Canada but have a CC so I don’t really mind where I get it from. Recently I’ve become interested in building electronics (Bought a fairly thorough book) but am not sure where to buy any parts from. I heard awhile back you could buy some bulk parts for cheap, anyone know where? I’d be interested in a "breadboard" set as well, if there are such sets, that’d be awesome.

Place where I can sell electronics for parts?

Hey, I’m new to the US, but it seems like there’s a shop for every need over here. I was wondering if there was a store that buys used electronics?

I have a couple of ipods (still working), laptop speakers, and a TV that won’t work due to a power surge. Do you think I can sell them just in case there are parts that are still working? I’m not expecting a lot of money for them, but they’re just sitting around collecting dust.

Try selling them online through ebay just make sure you say if they work or not otherwise you could be in for trouble. You can also call places that repair electronics and see if they will buy the stuff. another option would be to take it to a local pawn shop.

Recently, I have taken a liking to building simple electronic circuits using component parts (resistors, capacitors, transistors, IC’s, diodes, etc.) and such found at Radio Shack. I have, however, become more skillful, and have moved on to more complex circuits. I am not able to find a lot of the parts that I need (more specifically, a lot of the IC (Integrated Circuits) and similar parts) at Radio Shack. What I am asking is basically this: Does anyone know any online stores where I can buy these types of parts, preferably at a cheap price?

For saving money I would recommend electronic surplus stores such as Alltronics, All Electronics, BGmicro and my favorite, Electronic Goldmine. Go to alltronics.com, allelectronics.com, bgmicro.com, and goldmine-elec.com to find their on line stores. They sell a wide range of components, mostly new prime parts at a substantial savings over retail stores. The downside is they don’t have complete or permanent inventories like retail places so you may have to do a little more shopping to get what you need. But they are good places to go to build a parts inventory without going broke.
