i need to speak with an engineer that can make specialty electronics components.?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

I need a very special video recording component made and need to find an engineer who can do this? I need "Video In" to an MP3 Player. I already have this capability, but need it to be built smaller. Anyone know how to find an engineer who can do this?

Thanks

Jake

i would head over to the CAR AUDIO section and hit up sparky (the lead contributer) he may be able to help you out.

electronics components market place

Can you imagine how much of 5000 pieces of resistor? It’s less than USD5.00 and much more active & passive component selling there. All active components are of course the original one.

Electronics Circuit – What components can I add to a simple pressure pad alarm system ?

Monday, May 31st, 2010

It’s for GCSE and I’ve built a simple pressure pad alarm but what can I add to it ? I’ve already got an oscillator, logic gates, some memory, a high pitched buzzer and push switches for inputs ( of course, 1 to act as the pressure pad and the other as the reset button for the owner of the house to press to reset the alarm).

Or rather, how can I incorporate a 7-segment screen into the circuit ? Or possibly an additional LED to light alongside the buzzer ?

Any ideas are kindly welcomed,
Dogguy.

One thing that distinguishes the real alarms from amateur ones is supervision. If the connecting wires are cut or shorted in real alarms the alarm will put out a trouble signal because it knows that the current level is not what it should be.

They also tend to have alarm silence circuits. If an alarm occurs a buzzer rings and a lamp lights. If you press a "silence" switch the buzzer goes off and the lamp blinks till a second button is pushed which Resets it.

THose are simple things to do with logic gates.

As far as 7 segment screens look up the drivers for them. Typically anytime you want to put numbers on that you need to use 7 outputs and store a table showing which segments are on and off for each number. Then you have to chip select one character and turn on all its "on" segments. Then go onto another character and do the same. That would let you indicate which switch has been tripped by the alarm.

Can a surge pass through low-level input/outputs to other electronics components?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

I am out of outlets on the surge protector for my computer equipment. I really don’t care about my speakers; I have spares. I am concerned, however, that a surge could originate from the unprotected outlet to the speaker system, and pass through the audio cable and through the mini-jack to the computer.

I know that surges can pass through coax cables and telephone line (in addition to, of course, power cables.

Will connecting my speakers in the above manner endanger my computer and peripherals?

If at all possible, a link so I can do more research would be helpful.

Yes, anything is possible, since electricity always takes the path of least resistance, but it isn’t very likely. Besides, why wouldn’t you just go to Wal-Mart and buy one of those $3 single-outlet surge protectors for your speakers?

Components of water shipping packages for electronics?

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Abord a ship electronics are typically packaged with small pouches labeled "Not-Salt – Do not eat." What is the name of this bags/pouches used and what are the chemical components?

they are there to absorb moisture and keep the components dry.

wikipedia:
A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness (desiccation) in its local vicinity in a moderately-well sealed container.

Commonly encountered pre-packaged desiccants are solids, and work through absorption or adsorption of water, or a combination of the two. Desiccants for specialised purposes may be in forms other than solid, and may work through other principles, such as chemical bonding of water molecules.

Pre-packaged desiccant is most commonly used to remove excessive humidity that would normally degrade or even destroy products sensitive to moisture. Silica gel, calcium sulfate, calcium chloride, montmorillonite clay, and molecular sieves are commonly used as desiccants.

Rice is a common "low-tech" alternative frequently used, for example, in salt-shakers to maintain granularity of table-salt for effective pouring or shaking. Rice, however, is not a good general purpose desiccant since, unless immersed in an organism-hostile environment like pure salt, over time may be eaten by creatures that might in turn pollute the product that is being preserved. Salt itself is another effective desiccant, used for millennia in preparation of dried foodstuffs. A specific usage of dessicant would be in double glazing where it is placed inside the spacer between the air space and window edge. This stops heat loss via the actual spacer.

The probability that a certain electronics components fails when first used is 0.18.?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

If it does not fail immediately, the probability that it lasts for 1 year is 0.88. What is the probability that a new component will last 1 year?

72.16% probability it will last the year.

Where can I buy capacitors & other electronics components near Lakewood / Denver in small quantities, not bulk?

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Looking mostly for capacitors in a wide variety, to rebuild older video cards.

Google is your friend. I searched on "electronics components lakewood co" and got this URL:

You can always try Radio Shack.
