The electronic flash attachment for a camera contains a capacitor for storing the energy used to produce the f?

Monday, May 10th, 2010

The electronic flash attachment for a camera contains a capacitor for storing the energy used to produce the flash. In one such unit, the potential difference between the plates of an 1100-?F capacitor is 310 V. (a) Determine the energy that is used to produce the flash in this unit. (b) Assuming that the flash lasts for 5.9 ms, find the effective power or "wattage" of the flash.

(a) E = (1/2) C v^2 = 0.5 * 1100×10^-6 * 310^2 = 52.9 J

(b) P = 52.9 / 0.0059 = 8960 W

What electronic component is failing if an hour warm up is required for normal operation?

Friday, May 7th, 2010

I got a scanner, i know it got a very simple circuit board because i open it once, but it need warm up if i didn’t use it for a month, if i use it yesterday, it won’t require warm up to function as normal. So what is the component that need to replace, i suspect it would be the capacitor, if it is the case, would the big capacitor fail 1st or the small one. Any electronic repair expert kindly give me some ideas, thanks.

In the old days (and I do mean OLD days), electronic equipment used vacuum tubes to operate. In order to get the cathode to emit electrons for operation, a heat source needed to be applied to it. Literally, there was a filament whose job it was to heat the cathode. It took a few minutes to bring it up to full operating temperature. With solid state technology becoming more prevalent in the 1960’s, tubes began to slowly disappear and the old ‘warm up’ time was a thing of the past.

So warming up is not the problem with your scanner. Why it takes a long time before operating is a good question, but it’s going to take a schematic, some test equipment, and some analytical trouble-shooting to track down the problem.

And there a good number of capacitors inside there, each one with its own function.

What is the best electronic trigger for my spyder shutter?

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

I dont want to get rid of my spyder shutter but i want it to go full auto. Is there a specific electronic trigger I should buy? And do I have to get that electronic board? I know I can upgrade the shutter to full auto and i’m thinking about getting a 16" barrel thanks in advance.

full auto isn’t allowed on 90% of fields. it’s beyond pointless. unless you want 2 make a youtube vid showing how fast your gun can put out paint, full auto = pointless. any spyder e-trigger would work though. and yes, you get a board with it.

Do electronic pet fences work and what is the best brand?

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

I have a lab and rotti that are very hard to train. I’ve been told that electronic fences dont work at all. My dogs do respond when they have their shock collars on isnt this how the electric fence works?

I have a wireless fence for our bulldog. It works very well. PetSafe is the brand we use. I have noticed that the wireless doesn’t work as well if you have a bigger dog because the jolt doesn’t get there attention as much. They do make collars that have different levels of shock. The ones that you dig and put in the ground are stronger and would probably work better for your pets, but you do have to dig and put the fence in the ground.
